The Perth Artifactory is the Hackerspace in Perth, Western Australia. We currently occupy a large warehouse unit in Osborne Park and have been busily populating it with tools, both robotic and non-robotic, technology, desks and workstations.

The name Artifactory is the joining of the words artifact and factory, so maybe we lost a “fact” (or two) along the way with the motto – Don’t think. Make.

We currently have over 40 financial members and many regular visitors to the space during the various theme nights. Remember visitors are always welcome – before heading down check the webcam to make certain someone will be there to meet you.

We are dedicated to providing a place where people of all backgrounds with an interest in technology can come together to work on projects, share ideas and socialise.

Hi I’m a Perth art student and want to make a light bulb with the light emitter extending out of the bulb, I quickly researched tungsten globes and am wondering if I extended the tungsten out of a hole made in a glass bulb would there be light emitted, is this possible? am wondering how i can make this possible or something similar, I would love to send diagrams via email to shed more light on this, pardon the pun, and if this idea is possible or a variation on the idea, could we make it in the work shop, ps. I didn’t know how else I could send this to u, is there an email address? Kind regards, Kristen (also I don’t have a lot of electrical technical knowledge, so maybe you could help out?)

Looks pretty interesting. Listened to some podcasts recently that recommended checking out local hackerspaces but I’m not exactly the most technically literate so I’ll probably just stick to the noob safety of visiting your site from time to time!

Great presentation at Villaincon on the weekend! Thank you! I especially liked the Arcophone. Next: I am the very model of fantastic Arc technology, of mad science and the very roots of theophosophy…
