Giant Outdoor “Scratchie” Game: Fun with Arduino controlled pressure pads
On November 27, 2012
A giant interactive grid of footpads installed at the Perth Cultural centre operating a “scratchie” Lottery-ticket word game was built for Lottery west by Artifactory’s Brett Downing. Here’s some photos of its construction! An Arduino pro mini monitoring a bunch of 74hc165 shift registers with pull up/down transistors listens to a grid of pressure pads. Each mat has a capacitor that stays high as the pull-up pulls down, that tells you which mats are connected. (disconnected inputs go low immediately). 127games played on day one, 140 something on day two, with no hardware failures whatsoever. We look forward to it being part of the Artifactory Disco Floor in the future!
